Pro and Business Blogs: Portfolio
Graphically Designing specializes in clean, modern and beautifully minimalistic blog design. I love bold colors against white space, and well-organized, tidy layouts. I help pro-bloggers, crafters and small biz bloggers make a space that’s as inviting as the services and products offered within it. I welcome you to visit some of the projects I’ve done recently.
Homegrown Mom – Angela
“A wife to rush home to…” Angela writes about homemaking, homeschool and life from a biblical perspective. She needed a clean, easy-to-navigate space with clearly labels pages for her content and store. Her sweeter-than-honey look turned out to be a “blog to rush home to.”

Frugal Feasts, Suzanne & Robin, NH
Betty Crocker meets Wanda Sykes. That’s how I feel about the girls – the Fru-Gals – at Frugal Feasts. This riot duo is the food columnist team for the Concord Monitor. Spicy, spicy, spicy – and not just their amazing recipes! Full of wit and humor about parenting, homemaking and themselves, these foodies wanted a blog that brought June Cleaver into the 21st century.

Nesting Place – The Nester. NC
Blogging since late 2007, Nesting Place has grown into a business advocating imperfect homemaking. This is the third project we’ve done together. The Nester has a dedicated ad space for revenue and links to her shop where she sells ebooks full of frugal design secrets and craft tutorials. Nesting Place gets 400,000 – 500,000 (yes, that’s half a million!) page views per month and is has a Technorati ranking of 2629 (as of March ‘09). As a busy pro-blogger, the Nester takes advantage of Graphically Designing design retainer services. For a monthly retainer fee, her graphic projects are managed immediately without having to wait in the design queue.
“Knowing that Darcy is there to fix any issue, create amazing buttons and talk me through big decisions has been a life saver. I’d love to have her sitting right next to me at times but having her available to assist is the next best thing. Just a few weeks ago Nesting Place went wonky and I emailed Darcy with the subject “Emergency” within ONE MINUTE we were Gmail chatting and she told me that she was already aware of the problem and explained how I should handle it. I wholeheartedly trust Darcy with my blog and her knowledge of Blogger. Not only is Darcy a skilled graphic designer who can turn your vague ideas into a stunning site, she’s fun to work with and I’m continually amazed at how available she is and how fast she can get things done. I consider her a friend and completely trust her judgement. She is the sexiest, richest, skinniest and most genius person in existence.” -The Nester

A Soft Place to Land – Kimba, PA
Kimba’s blog was one of my favorites long before she become a client. Real Home, Real Family, Real Life – Kimba is Anthropologie meets Pottery Barn on a Goodwill Budget. She is a true DIYer and has tons of fabulous projects, videos and Do-it-Yourself homemaking projects. Kimba also authors ebooks, runs an etsy shop and posts new content daily. She takes advantage of the design retainer, giving her a jump-to-the-front-of-the-queue on all her graphics and design needs.

Like Merchant Ships – Meredith
One of the pioneer homemaking blogs, Meredith starting blogging in 2005. Her blog, Like Merchant Ships is a treasure chest of frugal homemaking, smart shopping, and living well within your means – like a true Proverbs 31 woman. Meredith was a “recessionista” before it was trendy. For her makeover, it was important to echo the humble, down-to-earth feel while making it easier to navigate the site and access all years’ worth of quality posts. Meredith’s makeover also included logo design for branding. Check it out!
As a frugal blogger, I was afraid to invest in a professional design. Yet my free template was no longer providing the functionality that readers needed. Darcy created an uncluttered, bright makeover that really fit my blog’s photos and cheerful atmosphere.
More importantly, she tackled all the behind-the-scenes work I couldn’t do alone: intuitive navigation, revised categories, SEO-friendly titles. In just one week, analytics showed that my bounce rate dropped from 76% to 52%.
I produced the content, but Darcy’s expertise is letting people find it.

InTents Life Ministry
This project was a ton of fun – they needed it all: A website, a blog, a podcast site, branding, business card design and a letter head designed for print. It was a power house of a project. All the pieces are similar, but not identical – carrying branding through color and typography -while allowing each site to be unique.
