Photography Blogs: Portfolio
Standard templates have a content width of about 400 pixels wide and often have busy, cluttered sidebars that distract from the real star – your photos. Graphically Designing photoblogs feature clean, wide templates that allow your photos to shine.
These files are large to allow you to see as much of the blog as possible. Please allow the page to load! Thanks.
Small Word Blog: Artist, Kim Tate Wheeler, Nashville, TN
Although Kim is a painter and not a photographer, she needed the same kind of platform photographers need to show off their artwork – wide space for photos, and gallery for a portfolio, and a beautiful open blog. Kim was a dream to work with. She painted the dots used in her logo in her Nashville studio and scanned them so we could use them digitally in her site. This girl is mad talented! Small Words Blog is on Wordpress using Pixel Happy for Genesis by Studiopress.

Here’s a screen cap of her gallery. When you click on the thumbnails, the images open up to a pretty nifty lightbox feature.

Jamie Fender, Photographer: Jamie Fender, Little Rock, AR
Girl’z got skillz. That pretty much sums up Jamie Fender. Lucky are the brides in the greater Little Rock area, or those who choose to bring Jamie in! She has such an amazing way of capturing not just images but emotions. Her style is “vivid experience” captured in gorgeous images. Please visit her. Jamie needed graphics should could brand across her blog, website, marketing and promotional materials. The result was this divine partnership between the photographic talent of Jamie mixed with some TLC from Darcy.

Boybarian Photo: Boybarian Dad, Des Moines, IA
Designer by day, photographer whenever he’s not sleeping, Boybarian Dad’s blog showcases his love of photography with 800 pixel wide photos and a flash slideshow header. Boybarian Dad wanted a clean, uncluttered blog space. He also needed help creating his photography brand and identity, so together, we created a logo and a business card to reflect his personality. The logo was made into a watermark Photoshop brush (.abr file) so he can protect his photos from online theft. The end product was a masculine, striking photoblog with only a touch of color – drawing on the blacks, whites and grays as the major color players. Boybarian Dad’s blog has 3 lower columns and a footer sliced from one of his rural scape photos.

Christen Jones Photography: Christen Jones, Memphis, TN
Christen takes amazing photos! She shoots mostly weddings and couples and needed a beautiful space that is easy to maintain. Hosted on Wordpress using Net Rivet’s ProPhoto 2 theme, Christen’s blog is beautiful, contemporary and easy to update. Her logo is static, but the photos in the header are a slideshow, showcasing her work. Beautiful shots! This one is must-see in person.

Short on Words: Photographer Susan Keller, SoCal, CA
SoCal natural-light photographer and mom of three, Susan, has a 1 column template to showcase her stunning beach vistas, floral bouquets and family shots. Her template has 3 lower bars for contact information and her photog bio. This template also features a footer image – a splice of Susan’s flower shot.

f/11: Photographer Marshall G, Orange County | Los Angeles, CA
Marshall is an audio for film professional and avid amateur photographer. This busy dad of three uses his blog to display his beautiful photos. Marshall’s blog has a wide main content area, but still utilizes a narrow sidebar to keep navigation and social media close near new content.
“Darcy rocked my blog out! I had been using a stock Blogger template for a while when I decided I wanted something distinctive that matched my personal style, and Darcy nailed it. I gave her a few ideas and she came up with something better than I had imagined. People comment now on the style and design of my blog and I think it really enhances my photography and helps to convey my personality. I would highly recommend Darcy to anyone looking for a website design or blog makeover.” -Marshall
